Art Exhibit Opening Reception

Join the Midland College Art Department for the first exhibit of the 2018-2019 academic year.

"Innocence in Silence," an exhibit of works by Jieun Beth, will be on display September 6-30. The opening reception will include a chance for guests to visit with the artist while viewing this unique exhibit.

Pairing an image of a shirt with an individual's obituary, "Innocence in Silence" portrays the traces of a body and the memory of a personhood.  Once used as an expression of individuality and a representation of self, the images and descriptions now remain as a relic and history.  It is a reminder of the ultimate vacancy of our body, the influence of perception, the preservation of an identity and the void of being.

If you can't make the reception, you are invited to view the exhibit during McCormick Gallery hours, which are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
