Perkins Resources

The Career & Student Resource Center provides resource services, funded by the Carl D. Perkins Federal Grant, to Career Technical Education (CTE) students. 

The grant provides assistance to students who have demonstrated financial need and are in career and technical education programs. The purpose of the program is to help qualified students overcome obstacles in fully completing their education.

Eligible career & technical education Programs include:

Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology; Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling; Automotive Technology; Aviation Maintenance Technology; Business Management; Business Systems; Child Care and Development; Computer Graphics Technology; Computer Science; Cosmetology; Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement; Diesel Technology; Emergency Medical Services; Energy Technology; Fire Science Technology; Health Information Management; Health Services Management; Information Technology; Nursing (Registered); Nursing (Vocational); Organizational Management; Paralegal; Respiratory Care; Sonography; Welding

Assistance Provided

Assistance for Commuter Students - Option 1


Please bring the following with you to the Career & Student Resource Center:

  • Completed Transportation Application:

Transportation Assistance Application (pdf) 

  • Class Schedule demonstrating a Career-Technical-Education (CTE) major, full-time enrollment (at least 12 hours), current home address (must live outside Midland County to qualify), 75% of the courses are on the main campus

  • Proof of GPA, at least 2.0
  • Financial Aid Award Letter - Pell Grant or government assistance cards (WIC, TANF, DARS, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Other)

  • Eligible students will receive a monthly allowance of $.10 cents per mile for their commute from county to county (contingent upon funding availability).

Day Care Assistance


Workforce Solutions

Workforce Solutions/Child Care Services (WS/CSS) has funds available to assist low-income families with child care assistance. Contact WS/CCS to apply for funds, (432) 367-3332 or (800) 542-5056.

Applying for Perkins Grant Funds @ MC?

Bring the following with you to the Career Center:

  • Financial Aid Award Letter (Pell Grant) or Government Assistance cards (WIC, TANF, DARS, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Foster Youth, Veteran Education Benefits)

  • Current Class Schedule, demonstrating a Career & Technical Education (CTE) major

  • Full-time Enrollment with 75% of the courses on a Midland College campus, unless the courses for your CTE major are online only

  • Proof of GPA, at least 2.0

  • Signed letter from day care, on the approved provider list, itemizing the total daycare cost for each month of the semester in which you are enrolled
