Pharmacy Tech Course
PHRA 1001 – Introduction to Pharmacy
PHRA 1043 – Pharmacy Technician Review
(both courses are required)
Topics include:
- medical terminology specific to the pharmacy
- reading and interpreting prescriptions
- defining drugs by generic and brand names
- dosage calculations
- I.V. flow rates
- drug compounding
- dose conversions
- dispensing of prescriptions
- inventory control, billing, and reimbursement
Basic math comprehension is recommended.
Upon Completion of Course
The student will complete the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam which will lead to a certification with the Pharmacy Tech Certification Board - PTCB (cost not included in the course tuition).
