I'm Not Sure

If you are not sure which student category you fall into, do not worry, we are happy to assist. Below are descriptions of each student type. As you read through them, you may decide you fit in more than one category, but choose the one that best fits your current education goals. Each has various requirements for admission and implications for tuition/fees and financial aid. If you still are not sure which best fits, contact Enrollment Services at enroll@midland.edu.
 
 

STUDENT TYPES - Select correct type for enrollment steps


DEGREE OR CERTIFICATE SEEKING

Educational Goal: obtain a certificate/degree from Midland College OR take one to two years of courses to transfer to another college or university. This fits a student who is new to college, a former MC student who has not attended MC in over a year, or student who has previously attended another college/university and is transferring to MC.

DUAL CREDIT

Educational Goal: obtain academic transfer courses or a career-ready certificate while in high school. This fits a student currently attending a high school under an agreement with Midland College to offer courses that simultaneously award high school and college credit.

TRANSIENT/UNIVERSITY

Educational Goal: obtain a few courses to transfer back to the college or university you are currently attending full-time. This fits a student who is currently attending and seeking a degree at another college or university.

INTERNATIONAL

Educational Goal: obtain a certificate/degree from Midland College. This fits a student from a country outside the United States, who is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and wishes to study full-time at MC.

VETERAN

Educational Goal: obtain a certificate/degree from Midland College. This fits a student student who has served or is serving in the U.S. armed forces.

EARLY ADMISSION

Educational Goal: obtain academic transfer courses before graduating from high school. This fits a student who has not graduated from high school and wishes to enroll in a college course to earn college credit. Often, these students are home schooled or pursuing a course not included in the dual credit agreement between the ISD and MC.

CASUAL

Educational Goal: obtain courses for personal interest/enrichment. This fits a student who is taking courses for personal interest only and is not seeking a degree or certificate.
