Join the Midland College Art Department for a reception presenting "Roadrunner," an MC alumni exhibition on view in the McCormick Gallery August 19-October 3.

SAM IVIE
Sam Ivie specializes in a variety of painting and drawing with mediums such as ink, colored pencil, oils, watercolor, acrylic and graphite. Painting and drawing are meditative activities for the artist where he creates portraits and invented images with their own symbology. Sam attended Midland College from 1990-1992. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas in 1997. He has been living in the area ever since, continuing to paint and exhibit artwork in solo and group exhibitions.

RACHEL LONG
Rachel Long’s work is imbued with a sense of family significance and caring for animals. Her work has foundations in a Hebraic understanding of language and meaning, and she creates a symbolic rhythm that plays to the beat of a visual representation of the invisible. Rachel attended Midland College in the fall of 2014 through the spring of 2016, where she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree.  She then earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Rachel’s work has been featured in shows in the San Antonio and Midland regions.

JESSICA MASON
Jessica Mason is a mixed-media artist based in Austin, Texas. By using collected pieces that invoke nostalgia from her past, she creates bold yet ambiguous work left open for individual interpretation. Native to Midland, Jessica attended Midland college from 2011 to 2014. Here she was able to experiment with many different styles and found herself drawn to text-based art. After relocating to Austin, she continued her education at Texas State University, and in 2018 graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts focused in Expanded Media.

​The McCormick Gallery is located in the Allison Fine Arts Building at Midland College, 3600 N Garfield St.
