Midland College Partners with EZOps to Equip Future Oilfield Workforce with Digital TechnologyDecember 11, 2025
![]() Midland College is proud to announce a strategic partnership with EZOps, a division of Detechtion Technologies and a leading provider of mobile oilfield management solutions, to integrate the
EZOps Mobile Oilfield Management platform into the college’s Energy Technology program.
This collaboration exemplifies Midland College’s commitment to world-class technical
training, close collaboration with industry partners, and preparing students for successful
careers in the energy sector.
Through this partnership, students in Midland College’s Energy Technology program will gain hands-on experience using EZOps’ cutting-edge digital tools, which streamline
oilfield operations and provide a practical understanding of modern oilfield management.
The program prepares students for careers as lease operators and general field technicians,
equipping them with technical skills in electrical and mechanical aspects of control
systems, surface equipment, and petroleum production.
“We are excited to join forces with Midland College and invest in our future oilfield
workforce by better equipping students with technology used to manage the oilfield,”
said Tracy Gray, Strategic Business Director and Executive Sponsor of the EZOps Customer
Advisory Board. “They will get to experience the digital side of oilfield management
through the EZOps platform prior to heading to work in the patch.”
The oil and gas industry is undergoing rapid digital transformation. The North American
digital oilfield market (valued at $11 billion in 2024) is projected to reach $19
billion by 2032. As operators modernize their workflows, the demand for tech-savvy
oilfield professionals grows.
“This collaboration is a direct investment in our students, and in the future of the
Permian Basin,” said Erick Gutierrez, Professor and Chair of Energy and Technical Programs at Midland College. “By working hand-in-hand with industry partners like EZOps, we’re ensuring our graduates
are prepared not just for today’s jobs, but for the innovations shaping tomorrow’s
oilfield.”
In addition to his leadership within Midland College, Gutierrez will join EZOps’ Customer Advisory Board, bringing more than 14 years of energy operations and workforce development experience
to the company. His participation underscores Midland College’s dedication to aligning
education with industry needs and fostering partnerships that enhance student learning
while advancing the efficiency and safety of regional energy operations.
EZOps’ mobile platform allows operators and service providers to manage critical functions
such as Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), maintenance, inspections, readings,
inventory, work orders, job status, and reporting from a single, offline-ready interface.
By integrating EZOps into the curriculum, Midland College gives students hands-on
experience with industry-standard digital workflows. It is one of several modern technologies
the college uses to ensure students are prepared for today’s evolving oil and gas
environment.
This exposure strengthens workforce readiness and reinforces Midland College’s commitment
to student success through real-world learning.
