Because of the Covid-19 quarantine, Midland College employees were not able to receive
service and excellence awards in person this year; however, Midland College President
Dr. Steve announced staff excellence and service awards via email to all employees
on May 4. Employee excellence awards are nominated and voted by peers. The 2019-2020 top nominees
are Sarah Anderson, secretary, Math & Science Division; Jeremiah Blair, enrollment navigator; Jennifer Caudillo, database programmer; Angelina Dolaptchieva, secretary, Social/Behavioral Sciences Division; Jennifer L. Harris, academic advisor; Howard Marks, director, Fasken Learning Resource Center; and Nina Meraz, financial aid advisor. Claudia Chavez, secretary to the director of Human Resources/Payroll; Bahola Edwards, assistant to the president/secretary to the MC Board of Trustees; and Mike Seerey, director of special programs and the Texas A&M-Concho Engineering Academy are the
campus wide winners. Jennifer Goolsby, director of instructional technology received the Outstanding Institutional Ambassador
Award for her continuous efforts to promote Midland College. Dr. Thomas also recognized and thanked the 2019-2020 MC retirees: Diane Allen, department chair, English & Philosophy; Christy Garza, technical services manager; Sylvia Gray, instructional designer; David Kemp, Energy Technology faculty; Gena Nicholson, department chair, Developmental Math; Helen Peetz, Associate Degree Nursing faculty; Linda Ramirez, Testing Center clerk; Pam Saunders, secretary to the vice president of Information Technology; Sylvia Stephens, Cosmetology faculty; Lynda Webb, associate dean of Adult Education; and Joan Williams, periodicals clerk, Fasken Learning Resource Center. Emma King, circulation clerk, Fasken Learning Resource Center retired earlier this year after
serving the college for 45 years—since 1975. Other long-serving employees retiring
are Dan Buckley, webmaster (34 years of service); Bahola Edwards, assistant to the president/secretary to the MC Board of Trustees (38 years of service);
Michael Jordan, Music faculty (39 years teaching at MC); Glenda Lindsey-Hicks, English faculty (39 years teaching at MC); and Kent Moss, Art faculty (35 years teaching at MC). In addition, Dr. Thomas recognized employees for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30, 35 and
40 years of service. Of special note is Karen Harris, secretary, Health Sciences Division, 40 years of service, and Irma Moreno, secretary to the vice president of Administrative Services, 35 years of service.
