On Wednesday, May 8, 2019, Oxy Petroleum presented two $2,500 scholarships to Midland College (MC) to help students pursuing careers in Diesel and Energy Technology for the 2019-2020 academic year. The students who received the scholarships are Alex Elvira, Energy Technology and Dillon Kolp, Diesel Technology.

Then on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, Oxy presented two additional $2,500 scholarships to two high school seniors who are enrolled in the Midland College/Midland Independent School District College and Career Petroleum Academy. High school students receiving the scholarships are Midland High senior Cooper Beauchamp and Lee High School senior Charles McDonald. Both students plan to attend MC’s Energy Technology program in the fall and pursue Associate of Applied Science degrees.

“Scholarships like the ones donated by Oxy Petroleum are life-changing to our students,” said Erin Casey-Richardson, associate director of Scholarships. “Many of our students have a financial need and donations from companies like Oxy Petroleum make a real impact in their lives and in our community.”

Thanks to the generosity of individual donors, private foundations and Permian Basin companies, Midland College awarded more than $1 million in scholarships during the 2018-2019 academic year. For more information, contact Erin Casey- Richardson, scholarships@midland.edu, (432) 685-4765.
