Midland College golfer Scott Spark continues to shine on the international stage, earning a spot as a finalist for the prestigious 2025 Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award, presented by FlightScope. The award is selected by Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) International member coaches and recognizes the top international NJCAA golfers for athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and leadership.

Spark, a standout freshman from Scotland, helped lead the Midland College Chaparrals to the 2025 NJCAA Division I National Championship, and has collected an impressive list of individual accolades this season, including:

  • NJCAA Division I Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award
  • NJCAA Division I PING All-American
  • NJCAA Division I PING All-District Team

Currently ranked #3 nationally and #2 regionally, Spark has maintained a 70.8 adjusted scoring average over 44 rounds, with 1 win, and five top-3 finishes.

“Scott has made an immediate and lasting impact — not just on our program, but on the national and international levels as well,” said Walt Williams, NJCAA Hall of Fame Coach and head of the Midland College golf program. “His poise, work ethic, and leadership on and off the course are well beyond his years. He’s exactly the kind of athlete this award represents.”

The Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award is named after one of golf’s most respected icons. Player, a global ambassador for the sport and one of only six golfers to win the career Grand Slam, is known not only for his excellence on the course, but also for his philanthropic work and advocacy for education and youth development.

“Scott’s recognition among such a strong international field is a testament to both his talent and character,” said Forrest Allen, MC Athletic Director. “We are incredibly proud to have him represent Midland College and our golf tradition on the global stage.”

Spark is one of six finalists selected from NJCAA programs across the country. Other finalists include:

  • Charlie Box, Hutchinson (England)
  • Gabriele Bravin, Heartland (Italy)
  • Adam Bresnu, Odessa (Morocco)
  • Stanley Campbell, Mississippi Gulf Coast (England)
  • Jorge Parada, South Mountain (Mexico)

The winner of the 2025 Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award will be announced later this summer.
