External Scholarships from Outside Agencies
Invest in MC Students
When businesses, foundations, and community donors invest in Midland College students, they invest in the future of the Permian Basin. To ensure that your scholarship award reaches the right student at the right time, please follow the submission guidelines below.
Submission Guidelines
There is no need to report anticipated external scholarships. Awards are applied within 5-7 business days of being received.
Scholarship checks should be payable to Midland College. Checks should not be made payable to a student.
Agencies and donors should include the following information when sending funds to Midland College to ensure scholarship checks are processed promptly:

- Recipients full name
- MC Student ID number
- Guidance regarding which semester(s) the award should be applied to (fall, spring, summer)
- Third party contact information (organization name, mailing address and phone number/email address)
- How the funds can be utilized (tuition/fees, books, room & board, supplies, equipment)

Midland College is not responsible for external scholarship recipients who receive
offers and are selected by agencies or committees outside of Midland College and for
establishing criteria or participating in the selection or notification of recipients.
Student Award Information
External scholarships are applied based on the donor’s instructions. If the donor does not indicate that funds can be given directly to you, the MC Scholarship Office will apply the funds towards eligible school expenses as defined by the donor (like tuition, fees, or other approved costs). If there is money left over, it will be returned to the donor unless otherwise specified.
If no specific donor instructions accompany the check, the external scholarship will be applied to your educational expenses. Any remaining funds will be paid out in the same semester they are received, unless the student submits a request to scholarships@midland.edu to have the funds adjusted to accommodate the next semester.
If you would like your scholarship funds carried forward, you must notify the MC Scholarships
Office within 5 business days of receiving the ‘External Scholarship Award Notice’
email to your MC student email, letting you know the scholarship has been applied.
All scholarships must follow state and federal financial aid rules.
