If there’s one thing I want every Midland College student to know, it’s this: you don’t have to have it all figured out to walk into our office.

In fact, our motto here in the scholarships office is “Come as you are.”

We say it because we mean it. We know that stepping into an administrative building can feel intimidating — especially when you’re not sure what paperwork you need, whether you qualify for help, or even if someone will take the time to listen. But here at Midland College, we meet you where you are, and we walk alongside you every step of the way.

That means there’s no judgment. No red tape meant to scare you away. No hoops to jump through just to be seen or heard. We understand that everyone has a different story, and some of those stories include struggle, setbacks, or circumstances you’d rather not share. But that’s exactly why we do what we do.

We see students every day who are working jobs, caring for kids, helping family members, navigating financial challenges — and still showing up. The grit and determination that walk the halls of Midland College would take your breath away. If you only knew the stories behind some of these degrees… you’d understand just how powerful education can be.

At Midland College, we award more than $2 million in scholarships each year.

That’s not a typo. And the best part? Most of our scholarships don’t even require a separate application. As long as you’ve completed your FAFSA or TASFA for the current year and enrolled in courses, you’re already in the running. If we do need anything extra, we’ll let you know through your MC email.

Deadlines are important, though, so mark your calendars:

  • Fall scholarship consideration deadline: August 1
  • Spring scholarship consideration deadline: January 1

It’s also good to know that scholarships don’t apply to mini-mester classes, so plan accordingly if you're looking at those short-term course options.

But above all, remember this:

Scholarships are more than just money.

They’re opportunity. They’re relief. They’re a chance to breathe for someone who’s been holding it together for far too long. And they’re one of the many ways Midland College is committed to removing barriers and supporting our students in the ways that matter most.

So, whether you’re fresh out of high school, returning after a break, or stepping into college for the first time later in life — you belong here. And if you’re unsure about whether you qualify for a scholarship, come see us anyway. There are more options than you think, and we’re here to help you find them.

No shame. No stress. Just support.

Come as you are. We’ll take it from there.
