Congratulations to Michael Fields, chair of the MC Cosmetology program.  The Community College Cosmetology Educators of Texas (CCET) appointed him as the 2021 president.  Community college colleagues throughout the state also voted Fields as chair of the Cosmetology Division for the Texas Community College Teachers Association (TCCTA).

“It is an honor to serve in these two roles,” Fields commented.  “I have been working in the cosmetology field for over 40 years and have been a cosmetology educator since 2004.  I am proud to represent and advocate for cosmetology education in Texas.”

Before working at MC, Fields worked as a cosmetologist in Midland.  In addition, for many years, he has volunteered with the Midland Community Theatre (MCT), both as an actor and behind the stage as a hair and wig stylist.  He encourages his students to also give back to the community, and many of the MCT production hairstyles are designed by MC Cosmetology students.

“Michael not only does a superb job teaching cosmetology skills, but also mentors and supports his students,” Wendy Wood-Collins, associate dean of Health Sciences Dual Credit and Continuing Education, said.  “Through his volunteer work in the community, he serves as a wonderful ambassador for Midland College.  I am sure he will do a great job as he serves and leads cosmetology educators throughout the state.”
