Held in the Carrasco Room on the MC main campus, the event brought together key voices in a shared commitment to creating workforce-aligned education and regional solutions that benefit West Texas.

Midland College is hosting the 2025 West Texas Symposium of History on Friday, April 12, 2025, at the Marie Hall Academic Building on the Midland College campus. This year's event, which is free and open to the public, will not only feature prominent guest speakers and scholars but also highlight the hard work and achievements of Midland College's students.

The Permian Basin is facing a critical workforce shortage in health care. With a growing population and expanding medical facilities, the demand for nurses, radiologic technologists, respiratory therapists, sonographers, and behavioral health specialists continues to outpace the supply of trained professionals. Local hospitals and clinics are struggling to fill positions, making it essential to invest in education and training programs that prepare students to enter the workforce quickly and competently.

Midland College is proud to announce that Pete Avalos, Dean of Applied Technology, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of College Technical Educators (TACTE). In this leadership role, Avalos will serve a two-year term, helping to guide the organization's mission of strengthening workforce education across Texas.
