MC Cosmetology Raises Funds for Gifts of Hope with Pink Hair ExtensionsOctober 02, 2026

Midland College Cosmetology is adding a little pink to October while raising funds to support local individuals and families affected by cancer.

Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, MC Cosmetology students are offering pink hair extensions for $5 cash, with all proceeds benefiting Permian Basin Gifts of Hope. The nonprofit provides support and resources to cancer patients throughout the Permian Basin.

Pink hair extensions are available through Oct. 30 at the Midland College Cosmetology Salon (Technology Center Building, Room 161). Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Our students love being able to use what they’re learning to give back,” said Michael Fields, Midland College Program Chair of Cosmetology. “The pink extensions are something fun and visible, but there’s a real purpose behind them. Every $5 helps Gifts of Hope continue supporting people in our own community who are facing cancer, and our students get to be part of that.”

The fundraiser will also make a special appearance at Midland College Athletics’ Pink Out the Chap volleyball game on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when the Lady Chaps host Clarendon College at 6 p.m. MC Cosmetology students will be on the concourse offering pink hair extensions during the game, giving fans another opportunity to participate in the fundraiser.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink, and the first 50 attendees will receive a free Pink Out T-shirt. Students from the Midland College Pre-K Academy will also attend as special guests.

The Cosmetology fundraiser is one of several activities taking place across Midland College during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, bringing students, employees and community members together to raise awareness and support organizations serving the Permian Basin.
