Academic Success CoachingChap Success Center

Academic Success Coaching is a personalized, academic-focused service designed to
help students strengthen the skills, strategies, and habits needed to succeed in college.
Coaching is not academic advising, counseling, or tutoring. Instead, an Academic Success
Coach works with you to identify academic challenges, set goals, develop practical
strategies, and create a plan for moving forward.
What Is Academic Success Coaching?
Academic Success Coaching focuses on how you learn, study, manage your responsibilities, and approach your coursework. Your coach will help you reflect on your current habits, identify barriers, and develop strategies that fit your goals, schedule, and learning needs.
Coaching may include support with:
- Time management and weekly planning
- Using AI responsibly as a learning tool
- Study strategies and learning techniques
- Test preparation and test-taking skills
- Note-taking and active reading
- Organization and assignment planning
- Motivation, accountability, and goal-setting
- Academic confidence and self-advocacy
- Managing multiple courses and deadlines
- Connecting with tutoring and other academic resources
The goal is not to do the work for you, but to help you develop the tools and confidence to complete your work more effectively and independently.
Who Can Meet With A Success Coach?
Academic Success Coaching is available to current Midland College students, including GED, ESL, or Dual Credit students at any stage
of their academic journey. You do not have to be failing a course to meet with a coach.
Coaching can be helpful for students who want to be more intentional, organized, and
confident in their academic work. Academic Success Coaching is available in-person or virtually.
Group Academic Success Coaching
Academic Success Coaching may also be offered in a group setting. Group coaching allows students with similar academic goals or challenges to learn and practice strategies together. Sessions may focus on topics such as time management, study planning, test preparation, motivation, organization, or adjusting to college expectations.
Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff may request an academic success presentation, classroom visit, workshop, or group coaching session for students.
