Midland, TX: Midland College is pleased to announce that it has joined Achieving the Dream (ATD), a national, leading higher education reform network of more than 300 community colleges across the country.

As 1 of 8 institutions joining the organization as part of its 2024 cohort, Midland College will enter into ATD’s Foundations of Transformation core engagement, an intensive three-year program. College leaders will work with ATD’s expert coaches to build essential capacities for student success, focusing on equity, data, teaching and learning, leadership, community partnerships, student support, and more.

"Midland College is fully committed to ensuring our students are equipped with the tools they need to succeed," said Midland College President, Dr. Damon Kennedy. "Our dedication to student success goes beyond the classroom; it includes holistic support, personalized guidance, and innovative resources tailored to each student's unique needs. By providing accessible, high-quality education, we empower individuals to realize their full potential. In collaboration with our community partners, we play a pivotal role in building the strength of our local economy. We look forward to partnering with Achieving the Dream to identify and eliminate any obstacles that may get in the way of college and career success."

Midland College, along with fellow cohort colleges and six other institutions new to the ATD Network, will convene at ATD’s Kickoff Institute, an annual event to welcome incoming Network colleges, which will be held this year June 12-14 in New Orleans. The Kickoff will set the stage for the colleges’ partnerships with ATD and introduce them to the organization’s Institutional Capacity Framework, a comprehensive assessment built on essential capacities that help colleges develop a student-centered culture and enhance student success.
