In today's economy, higher education is a necessity for individual economic opportunity.
The economy in the Permian Basin is thriving, and skills and education will determine
success for individuals and for West Texas. As a result, a college education remains
the best investment a student can make in his or her future.
Even as a college degree or other postsecondary credential or certificate has never
been more important, it has also never been more expensive. Over the past three decades,
tuition at public four-year colleges has more than doubled, even after adjusting for
inflation.
Midland College can help with the rising cost of a college education. The cost of
attending MC is one-third the cost of state public universities, and thanks to the
generosity of many, each year, MC awards approximately $1 million in private scholarships.
The scholarship application for the upcoming fall 2019 semester will be available
on the MC website beginning May 1. Before completing the application, students must
complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the
FAFSA needs to be on file with the Midland College Financial Aid Office. This is
very important, as information from the FAFSA will be used for the scholarship application.
Students who have registered for class, completed the FAFSA and the MC scholarship
application by July 1, 2019 will receive priority consideration for scholarships for
the 2019-2020 academic year.
