Lori  SmithPrincipal, Pre-K Academy

Lori’s mother, aunt and uncle were teachers and her grandfather told her that when everything else is falling apart, teachers will always have a job — all of this influenced her decision to become a teacher.

Lori Smith is the principal of the Pre-K Academy at Midland College. She has over 25 years of experience in early childhood and special education, including 10 years at Region 18 Education Service Center where she served the region as the Early Childhood Coordinator and 5 years as the Early Childhood Instructor at Midland College. Lori possesses a wealth of knowledge that she is eager to share.

In addition to a B.S. in Education and an M.Ed., Lori holds state certifications in early childhood, special education, educational leadership, and ESL. A winner of several awards for excellence, she has also participated in multiple research and development projects—serving organizations as varied as the Texas Education Agency, The Children’s Learning Institute, and The University of Texas Medical Center in Houston.

She enjoys golfing, gardening, reading books while floating in the swimming pool, and hanging out at the lake with her family. Some of her dream destinations are Greece, Australia, Hawaii, and Spain.
