Affordable Housing meeting Friday, October 26, 2018

The MC Cogdell Learning Center and MC Business & Economic Development Center will host an information meeting and discussion for homebuilders.

Session leaders will introduce builders to existing refund and incentive programs and discuss ways to strengthen and expand the program. 

The City of Midland currently offers a rebate of $4,500 to builders who construct housing with a sales price of under $200,000.

"The reason for the rebate is to help encourage the supply of affordable and workforce housing," said Isaac Garnett, City of Midland Community Development manager.

"Visitors to the MC Cogdell Learning Center inform us, sometimes in tears, how desperate their need for affordable housing is," said Alfredo Chaparro, MC director of Community Services.  "Mayor Morales has issued a call to action asking every entity to think of ways they can help."

All builders who are interested in benefitting from the incentive program are invited to attend the FREE meheting.  Breakfast will be provided.
