Rules:

• Anyone who is or has been enrolled as a Midland College student in the 2023-2024 academic year may participate.
• To participate, email a full preparation outline, including a bibliography or works cited section at the end, as a Word document or PDF to both directors no later than April 2. Send it from your MC email address, and put “Speech Competition Entry” in the subject line. In that email, also include your phone number.
• Each speech must be informative or persuasive, be between five and eight minutes long, and cite at least four credible sources.
• The directors will notify the semifinalists by April 10.
• The semifinalists will deliver speeches live in AFA 140 at 12:30 on April 17. Alternative times can be available if needed. Live virtual speeches may be considered for this round only, not the final round.
• Three finalists will speak live in AFA’s Brown Wagner Auditorium at 12:30 on April 24. Alternative times are not available for this round.
