Midland College Expands Access for GED Graduates Through New Financial Support ProgramsJune 02, 2025

Following the success of its 2024 First Class Free initiative, Midland College is expanding opportunities for GED graduates to pursue higher education. The College has launched a new program, Bridge to College Opportunity, to help remove financial barriers and encourage continued learning.

Through the Bridge to College Opportunity program, eligible GED graduates can receive up to $750 as part-time students or up to $1,500 as full-time students to cover tuition and fees.

The First Class Free program remains available for those new to College, offering GED recipients one free course as a simple, low-risk way to begin their college journey. This opportunity is available to individuals who have not previously taken college-level courses. To be considered for the Bridge to College Opportunity for the Fall 2025 semester, students must:

• Apply to Midland College
• Submit a FAFSA or TASFA (must be processed by July 1)
• Register for classes by July 1

"These programs reflect our commitment to creating clear, supportive pathways from GED completion to college success," said Deeksha Kadian, Midland College's Director of Adult Education and Literacy. "We want every GED graduate in our region to know that College is not only possible but affordable and accessible."

Both programs are open to residents within Midland College's service area who have completed a GED program through Midland College or any other provider and have not yet begun college coursework.
