Midland College to Host Veterans Day Celebration Nov. 7October 28, 2026
![]() Midland College, in partnership with Mil2Civ, Workforce Solutions Permian Basin, and 432 Run Crew, invites the community to its Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the MC PE Building and surrounding parking lot. With the theme “Veterans Helping Veterans and Their Families,” the event is an opportunity to honor those who have served while connecting veterans and their families with local organizations and resources available to support them. The day begins at 8 a.m. with a 10K, 5K, Kids Run and Ruck Sack Race, along with the opening of the Job & Resource Fair. Race registration is free, and participants are encouraged to register online in advance. New this year, inflatable attractions will be available to entertain children during the races. A Veterans Day ceremony will take place from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by family activities and the continuation of the Job & Resource Fair through 3 p.m. A petting zoo and food trucks will also be on-site, with free food provided by Down South Seafood. “Veterans understand the importance of looking out for one another because that's something we learn during our military service,” said Daniel Ortega, Midland College Director of Veterans Services and U.S. Navy veteran. “That commitment doesn't end when we take off the uniform. We want veterans and their families to know there's a community here that's ready to support them, and this event is one way we can bring everyone together.” The ceremony will feature remarks from U.S. Navy veteran Gabe Archuleta, whose participation is sponsored by Enerflex, and Midland College student and U.S. Army veteran Daniel Radabaugh. Archuleta enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 1994, immediately following high school. He began his military career as a Hospital Corpsman stationed in Newport, Rhode Island, before completing specialized training with the U.S. Marine Corps to serve with the Fleet Marine Force (FMF). Assigned to the 1st Tank Battalion in Twentynine Palms, California, Archuleta supported the training of the Kuwaiti Tank Battalion in Kuwait. After five years of active-duty service, he was honorably discharged in January 1999 at the rank of E-4. He continued serving in the Navy Reserve for an additional three years, attaining the rank of E-5. Radabaugh, a current Midland College student, served 12 years in the U.S. Army as a 19D Cavalry Scout. Following his military service, he built a career in the private sector, spending the past 12 years in operational and business development leadership. Now based in Midland, Radabaugh speaks publicly about mental health, particularly the challenges faced by veterans and professionals working in high-pressure environments. Much of his outreach focuses on the oil and gas industry, where mental health is increasingly recognized as a workplace safety priority. He also serves on the board of Project2Fourteen and remains active in the local veteran community. The Job & Resource Fair will bring together employers and organizations offering services and opportunities to veterans and their families. Participating Resource Organizations:
