Midland College Director of Academic Engagement Cody Vasquez has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International College Learning Center Association (ICLCA), a national professional organization dedicated to advancing academic support services and student success in higher education.

Vasquez, the only board member representing Texas, will serve a two-year term through 2028. He was formally sworn in during the association's annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, in September.

The ICLCA brings together higher education professionals who oversee academic learning centers and support programs at colleges and universities across the country. Through professional development, research and collaboration, the organization works to strengthen academic support practices that help students succeed in college.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Vasquez will help guide the association's strategic direction and support initiatives that advance professional standards and effective learning support practices across higher education institutions.

“Being part of ICLCA has been an incredibly valuable experience, both professionally and personally,” Vasquez said. “I'm excited for the opportunity to take on a leadership role within an organization that has contributed so much to my own professional growth. It's especially meaningful to represent Midland College and the state of Texas while working alongside colleagues who share a passion for helping students succeed.”

Vasquez has also earned his Learning Center Leadership Certification through ICLCA, a credential recognizing professional development in the leadership and management of academic support programs..

At Midland College, Vasquez leads academic engagement efforts that connect students with resources and services designed to support their educational goals. His involvement with ICLCA creates opportunities to bring new ideas and proven practices to the college while contributing to national conversations about academic support.

“Cody's election to the ICLCA Board is a well-deserved recognition of his commitment to helping students succeed,” said Heather Lindley, Associate Vice President of Academic Support. “His leadership and involvement at the national level will bring valuable insight to our work at Midland College as we continue strengthening the academic support services available to our students. Vasquez's appointment also strengthens Midland College's connections with academic support professionals nationwide, creating additional opportunities to share expertise and enhance the student experience.
