From Midland Independent School District press release
Early College High School at Midland College (ECHS@MC) is ranked among the best high schools in Texas and is considered No. 1 in the Midland
metropolitan area, according to U.S. News and World Report.
According to the rankings, ECHS@MC sits at No. 519 among the state's thousands of
high schools. The college prep school received scores of 98% in math proficiency and
93% in reading. Average math and reading proficiencies in Texas are 80% and 70%, respectively.
This year, all 79 seniors have committed to attend college after graduation. That's
in addition to the associate degree they will receive from Midland College.
"Our students' success is the culmination of years of hard work," said Chancellor
Renee Aldrin. "We teach all students that they can rise above, go beyond and conquer
all, and they achieve great things year after year."
ECHS@MC is a four-year high school partnership between the Midland Independent School
District and Midland College. Because of an accelerated curriculum, students have
the opportunity to graduate high school with an associate degree and enter college
ready for a bachelor's degree program. There is no cost to attend. Midland College
offers a full scholarship to all students so that they do not have to pay tuition
for taking MC courses that apply toward an associate degree.
People who wish to contribute to scholarships for these students can do so during
the Permian Basin Gives Day fundraising campaign drive. Visit the Permian Basin Gives website and scroll down to Midland College or visit the Midland College Foundation web page.
