MC graduating sophomore scholarships are available to students who graduate from MC
and plan to pursue bachelor degrees at public universities in Texas.
Scholarship awards range from $500 to $25,000 and are funded by Abell-Hanger Foundation
and Fasken Foundation. Each student selected has a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
and graduated from MC with an associate degree in 2020.
"I am excited about our awardees; I know they will do great things in their fields
of study," Associate Director of Scholarships Erin Casey-Richardson said. "I also
would like to thank our donors. The continued support from Abell-Hanger Foundation and Fasken Foundation means the world to these students and to Midland College. These foundations truly
are making dreams come true."
The Herbert L. Cartwright Education Continuance Scholarship is awarded by Abell-Hanger
Foundation. This year’s recipients are Lawson Bell – Texas Tech University, Mechanical Engineering; Christian Bookout – Texas Tech University, Mechanical Engineering; Bianca Castaneda – University of Texas San Antonio, Biomedical Engineering; Hayley Jones- Texas Tech University, Psychology; Krishnaben Patel – University of Texas Permian Basin, Accounting; Jasmine Pryor – University of North Texas, Biology; Norma Ruvalcaba – Texas Tech University, Biology; Khait Sarapao – University of North Texas, Biology; and Austin Wagner – Texas Tech University,
Social Work.
The Laura McCabe Education Continuance Scholarship is awarded by Abell-Hanger Foundation to a member of the Midland College Students in Philanthropy organization. This year’s
recipient is Jacob Edwards – University of Texas Permian Basin, Nursing.
Abell-Hanger Endowed Scholarship at UTPB is awarded by Abell-Hanger Foundation to students who transfer from MC to the University of Texas Permian Basin. This
year’s recipients are Sam Taing, Business Administration; Kayla Sandoval, Business Administration; Matthew Machuca, Information Systems; and Vivian Torres, Athletic Training.
The Fasken Graduating Scholarship is awarded by Fasken Foundation. This year’s recipients are Racey Haile – University of North Texas, Biology and Josie Nunez - Texas Tech University, Apparel Design and Manufacturing.
