Last Wednesday evening, May 8, during National Nurses Week, Midland College (MC) recognized
31 graduating Associate Degree Nursing students during a pinning and candle lighting
ceremony at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center.
The graduating class included 22 students who were enrolled in MC’s traditional two-year
registered nurse preparation program and 9 vocational nurses who were enrolled in
the registered nurse transitional program.
Becoming a nurse is one of the most selfless acts a person can undertake,” said Midland
College President Dr. Steve Thomas. These students have worked hard to get to this
point. The dedicated work they will do during their careers and kindness they will
deliver on a daily basis should serve as a reminder of the fundamental humanity inside
us all.” “These students are well prepared to pass the National Council Licensure Exam to become
registered nurses,” noted MC Dean of Health Sciences Dr. Carmen Edwards.
Graduates of the traditional registered nursing program are April Andrade, Brittany
Armstrong, Skyler Bennett, Courtney Boyd, Karen Bustamante, Hilda Bustillos, Stephanie
