How to Enroll at Midland College: A Step-by-Step GuideJune 17, 2025
![]() By Megan Brincks, MC’s Dean of Recruitment & Student Aid Starting college is a big step, no matter if you’re fresh out of high school, returning after time away, or juggling work and family while pursuing your education. At Midland College, we want to make the process to enroll as smooth and clear as possible. As the Dean of Recruitment & Student Aid, I’ve had the privilege of helping thousands of students enroll at Midland College, and while everyone’s journey is unique, the path to becoming a Chap follows the same core steps. Here’s what you need to know to enroll … and a few personal tips to make the process easier. Step 1: Submit Your ApplicationYour first step to enroll at Midland College is to submit your application. Be sure to fill in all the fields and double check for accuracy. Tip from Megan: “If you have a Social Security number, please include it — even if you’re unsure about your financial aid status. Leaving it off can slow things down and create extra paperwork later.” Once submitted, applications can take up to a week to process. Then you’ll get access to your personalized My MC Portal, which will show your next steps. Step 2: Send in Required DocumentsAfter applying, MC will need a few items to get you ready to enroll. Each student’s journey is different, but in general you will need the following:
Real talk: “If you’re not sure whether your transcripts have been received, reach out! We can check your file and guide you through it. Sometimes transcripts get held up because of something as simple as a missing signature.” Step 3: Apply for Financial AidThis step can feel intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Fill out the FAFSA (or TASFA for undocumented students), and our Financial Aid team will help you explore grants, scholarships, and payment options. Quick hint: “Many students don’t realize they qualify for aid until they apply. I always say: Apply first, worry later. You might be surprised how affordable MC can be.” Need help with FAFSA? We offer one-on-one appointments, and we regularly host workshops to walk you through it (like the two Future Chaps Fairs coming up on June 24 and July 15.) Step 4: Register for ClassesOnce your documents are in and financial aid is in progress, it’s time to choose your classes. A Pathways Advisor will reach out through your MC email to help you enroll. Pro tip: “Don’t ghost your advisor. They’re your best resource! I always encourage students to stay in touch. They can help you plan your schedule, avoid unnecessary classes, and graduate on time.” You can register through your advisor or self-register through the My MC Portal once you're cleared. Step 5: Pay TuitionAfter registration, you’ll need to secure your spot in class by paying your tuition, setting up a payment plan or ensuring your financial aid or scholarships are in place. Financial aid and scholarships apply directly to your account once processed, so keep an eye on your MC student email for updates. Little secret: “Remember filling out the FAFSA or TASFA? Once you’ve done that and registered for
classes, you’re automatically considered for general scholarships from Midland College!
Unlike many other colleges, you don’t have to apply to most of MC’s scholarship.” Step 6: Get Ready for ClassYou're almost there! Make sure to:
Everyone at Midland College wants you to feel confident and ready on your first day. That includes having access to your email, Canvas, and student resources, so do not hesitate to ask for help getting set up. Final Thoughts from MeganNo matter your background or goals, Midland College is here to support you. I’ve worked with single parents, full-time workers, first-generation college students, and I’ve seen the impact that a little guidance and encouragement can make. My favorite part of this job is seeing students walk across that stage at graduation. It all starts with this first step — and we’ll walk with you every step after. Start Strong — Enroll TodayWhether you’re chasing a dream or starting a new chapter, Midland College is ready to walk beside you. Your future starts with enrollment, and we can’t wait to welcome you as the newest Chap. |
