Midland College back to normal operationsJune 14, 2021
Midland College officials are happy to announce that the Fall 2021 schedule of classes includes many face-to-face classes for the first time in 18 months since the COVID pandemic started. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to choose hybrid (combination of face-to-face and online), online and virtual formats. “The COVID pandemic changed the way we offered courses,” MC President Dr. Steve Thomas said. “Our faculty and staff did an excellent job of converting classes to online and virtual formats in midstream during the spring 2020 semester. Our students also adapted, even though many of them preferred face-to-face classes. I want to thank everyone who persisted. I know it wasn’t easy. Now, we are ready to resume a full load of face-to-face classes, as well as continue to offer some online and virtual class sections. One good thing about the pandemic is that we really perfected the way we teach online and virtual classes.” Thomas also said that the college is excited to once again open residence halls and resume student activities, as well as community events. Craddick and Daniel residence halls will open to full, double-occupancy capacity. Private rooms are available in O’Shaughnessy Hall. Interested students should contact the Student Life Office. Plans are underway for a community back-to-school family celebration on August 12 sponsored by the Phyllis and Bob Cowan Performing Arts Series. The FREE event will feature a performance by The Great Dubois, a fast-paced variety show with incredible feats of juggling, hula hoops, unicycle, aerial circus stunts, contortion, magic and audience interaction. More information is available on the Midland College website. The MC Student Life Office is planning many student activities for the first week of college classes, otherwise known as “Welcome Week.” Registration for the fall semester is underway. Students who apply to Midland College, file the FAFSA application and enroll in fall semester classes by July 1 receive priority consideration for scholarships.
