Midland College Hosts Midland Young Leaders Challenge WorkshopJune 11, 2018

Midland College is pleased to serve as the host site for The Midland Young Leaders Challenge with General Tommy Franks. The two-day workshop will begin Wednesday, June 12 and conclude on Thursday, June 13, with a banquet featuring keynote speaker, Michael Williams. Known for breaking racial barriers and providing insightful leadership and thoughtful perspective, Williams has served Texas and the nation in a remarkable and spirited public service career spanning more than 30 years encompassing significant contributions ranging from serving as a federal prosecutor with the Department of Justice to leading Texas state agencies.

The banquet will also include a presentation by former Midlander and Lee High School graduate, General Tommy Franks.  A retired general in the United States Army, Franks is the recipient of 6 awards for Valor and 3 Purple Hearts, 5 Distinguished Service Medals, 4 Legions of Merit, 4 Bronze Stars and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  He was promoted to Four-Star General and assigned as Commander-in-Chief, United States Central Command where he led coalition forces into Afghanistan and Iraq. 

“Midland College is delighted to host this event to inspire young leaders in our community,” said MC President Dr. Steve Thomas. “We are honored to have Mr. Williams and General Franks on our campus.”
