Deborah Hightower was a teaching assistant as a TCU graduate student. She loved seeing students improve in public speaking and gain confidence. She teaches drama in elementary school and thought teaching public speaking at MC would be fun. She prefers a traditional classroom for public speaking class; it helps to have an audience available. Including students in the classroom activities and having conversations with the them is important to keeping them interested.

She loves walking, shopping, and traveling. She sings in the church choir and is active in the Midland Symphony League. She is happiest spending time with family and going on vacations. #1 on her bucket list is traveling to Australia and New Zealand; #2 is traveling to Scotland and visiting the castles – maybe staying a night in one.
