Midland College is honored to announce that Aaron Kinsey, combat veteran, U.S. Air Force pilot, and Chair of the Texas State Board of Education, will serve as the keynote speaker for the College’s Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The event, in conjunction with Mil2Civ, Permian Basin Workforce Commission and Midland Run Crew, will take place on the Midland College campus and is free and open to the public.

Kinsey served more than nine years in the United States Air Force, flying 120 combat missions in the C-130 and later training new pilots as both an instructor and mentor. His military career reflects a deep commitment to service, leadership under pressure, and dedication to those who follow in his footsteps.

Following his active-duty service, Kinsey returned to Texas, where he has continued his public service through his leadership in education and his commitment to advancing opportunities for students across the state. As a resident of Midland and CEO of an aviation company headquartered in the Permian Basin, he remains deeply connected to the community he serves.

“Midland College is proud to welcome Aaron Kinsey as our Veterans Day keynote speaker,” said Dr. Damon Kennedy, Midland College President. “His distinguished military service and strong commitment to education and community leadership make him an ideal voice for this celebration. We look forward to honoring the men and women who have served our nation and to hearing his message of duty, resilience, and continued service.”

The Veterans Day Celebration will feature activities for the entire community, including a free 5K/1K race, free food, a veterans ceremony honoring all who served, an exotic petting zoo for families, and a job and resource fair for veterans.

The event will bring together students, families, alumni, veterans, and members of the broader West Texas community to recognize the sacrifices of those who have served in the Armed Forces.
