More than $1 million in Scholarships opens for Midland College StudentsOctober 05, 2021

The early bird catches the worm at Midland College! Scholarship applications are now open for the spring semester. Thanks to generous donors, MC awards more than $1 million in donor-directed scholarships every year. These general scholarships only require one short application. Registered students can apply online.

“When I got a scholarship, I was like ‘Me? Somebody wants to help me?’” Brycie Bowles, MC student and scholarship recipient, said. “It was the most exciting feeling to get it because it means somebody is believing in you and investing in you. I’m a single mom so that really helped. It’s really an amazing thing to receive the scholarship.” 

“Without MC Scholarships I wouldn’t be where I am right now,” Paola Stewart, MC student and scholarship recipient, said. “It makes me cry really. I never thought I would be where I am. The money is there. You don’t need to end up having a college tuition debt.” 

Unlike loans which students must pay back, scholarships do not require repayment. MC awards various amounts of money based on factors such as academic talent, participation in certain activities, special interests, or financial need.

“MC students work really hard,” Erin Casey-Richardson, MC Scholarship director, said. “Students’ successes are our successes. Scholarships are just one way MC helps students. Scholarships put students in the right place at the right time and allow them to achieve more than they ever thought they could. That burden of not having to worry about paying for college is huge to our students. We challenge all registered students to apply for scholarships!” 

Students need to act fast. Applications received earlier get priority funding and spring applications close completely on December 6.
