proposal, which will be on the ballot for the May 2025 election. This marks the first
bond election for the college since 2005 and is designed to expand career and technical
education (CTE) programs to meet the growing workforce demands of the Permian Basin
region.  Additionally, the plan addresses campus facilities.   Key components of the bond proposal include:

Advanced Technology Complex ($277 million): A cutting-edge facility that will consolidate CTE programs, serving both high school
                                       and adult students.

Health Science Facilities Expansion ($43 million): Upgrades to support the growth of health science programs.

Campus Renewal ($54 million): General updates and renovations across campus.

bond, stating, "This proposal is a direct investment in the future workforce of Midland
and the Permian Basin. By expanding our CTE programs, we are equipping students with
the skills they need to succeed in high-demand careers right here in our community."   With projected enrollment expected to grow from 6,000 to over 10,000 students in the
next decade, this expansion will immediately add approximately 1,650 seats in Applied
Technology and Health Sciences programs. These additional seats will directly support
workforce needs in key fields such as nursing, natural gas compression, automation,
welding, and diesel technology.   In addition to the bond proposal, the Midland College Board of Trustees is committed
to actively negotiating a proposal from Midland Petro regarding a potential drill
site on campus. The Board has engaged legal counsel to facilitate discussions and
is working with the City of Midland to address critical infrastructure considerations.
The college is committed to making decisions that are in the best interest of the
community as a whole.   Early voting for the bond election is scheduled from April 22 to April 29, 2025, with
Election Day set for May 3, 2025. In the coming months, Midland College will provide
further details on the master plan and how these initiatives will benefit both students
                                    and the broader community. |
