Midland College will host its 54th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. in the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center, honoring the Fall 2025 graduating class who will receive bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, and certificates in recognition of their academic achievements.

The ceremony will open with the Star-Spangled Banner performed by Midland College student Regina Fox. Following that performance, this year’s commencement address will be delivered by Midland College Alumnus Tim Jakel, Jr., a Midland native whose life and career demonstrate the power of perseverance, service, and community support. After an injury altered his plans to pursue football, Jakel enrolled at Midland College, worked full time while attending night classes, and eventually earned his associate degree before completing his bachelor’s in business marketing. Today, he serves as Director of Development and Donor Engagement for Casa de Amigos, where he has built an impactful career in nonprofit leadership and fundraising.

Having an MC graduate return to address the Fall 2025 class is a meaningful reminder of the potential that begins at Midland College. Jakel’s journey, from local student to community leader, embodies the message he hopes to share with graduates: that their education, resilience, and commitment to serving others can open doors to extraordinary opportunities. His story reflects the very mission of MC, making his presence at commencement a true celebration of what lies ahead for this year’s graduates.

“Commencement is always a special moment for our campus, but this year feels particularly meaningful,” said Dr. Michael Dixon, Midland College Provost. “These graduates have balanced work, family, and academics with remarkable determination. We are proud of their accomplishments and honored to celebrate this milestone with their families. Their success reflects the strength of our community and the mission of Midland College.”

Midland College invites students, families, and community members to join in celebrating the accomplishments and bright futures of the Fall 2025 graduates. The event will be livestreamed on the Midland College website.
