Midland College to Host TCU Men’s Basketball Exhibition Game August 31, 2026

NCAA Division I men's basketball is coming to Midland this fall as Midland College welcomes Texas Christian University (TCU) and the University of Wyoming to the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center for an exhibition game on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. The game will be free and open to the public.

The matchup will give West Texas basketball fans the opportunity to experience Division I competition close to home while also bringing players, coaches, families and fans from outside the area to Midland.

“Hosting this program at Midland College gives our community an opportunity we don’t get every day,” said Forrest Allen, Midland College Athletic Director. “For young basketball players in West Texas to sit in the Chap Center and watch Division I athletes compete up close can make a real impression. They get to see the size, speed, preparation and level of competition it takes to play at that level. We’re excited to give them that experience right here at home and make it available to every family at no cost.”

For Midland College, hosting the exhibition shows the College’s broader role as a community partner and gathering place. From athletic competitions to lectures, performances and other special events, MC works to provide experiences that bring people together while contributing to the quality of life in Midland and the surrounding region. 

The TCU men’s basketball team will also host a free youth basketball clinic and meet-and-greet on Friday, Oct. 16, from 6–7 p.m. at Diamondback Energy’s Athletic Complex. The clinic is open to boys and girls in grades K–8 and will conclude with autograph and photo opportunities with TCU players and coaching staff.
