Join the Midland College (MC) Business & Economic Development Center (BEDC) for the first Florida Avenue Market of the season on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon at MC’s Cogdell Learning Center. Shoppers can support local businesses offering hot food cooked on site, fresh produce, unique arts & crafts, accessories, hats, bags, jewelry and more! Since back to school is on everyone’s minds there will be FREE backpacks with school items, while supplies last. There is truly something for everyone! Parents, your kids can jump their energy out in bounce houses.

“This open- air market is the perfect way to enjoy your Saturday morning,” Letticia Martinez, BEDC Project Assistant said. “We love connecting the community with these small businesses. There are always surprises for shoppers. At this upcoming date you can specifically look forward to homemade baked breads, jams, and even offerings from our youngest entrepreneur yet, an 8-year-old vendor who sells arts and crafts! The Florida Avenue Market gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to increase sales and allows us to better understand the needs of entrepreneurs in our community.”

For health reasons, the market is encouraging

  • social distancing of six feet
  • no sampling of products
  • hand sanitizing; with multiple stations available for customers and vendors
  • touchless methods of payment

The Florida Avenue Market is scheduled again on Sept. 18 and Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. – 12 noon at the Cogdell Learning Center. If you are interested in being a part of those future dates call (432) 684-4309 or email the Midland College Business & Economic Development Center.
