Our Fire Technology Continuing Education courses are designed to empower firefighters with the latest knowledge, techniques, and skills needed to excel in their crucial roles.  Whether you're a seasoned firefighter or just starting your career, our courses are crafted to meet your needs and help you stay at the forefront of firefighting practices.

The Texas Commission of Fire Protection Fire Instructor I course is a comprehensive program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to become certified fire service instructors in the state of Texas. This course follows the guidelines set forth by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) and provides a solid foundation for those aspiring to educate and train future firefighters.

Throughout this course, participants will delve into the principles of fire service instruction, instructional design, and effective teaching methodologies. Emphasis will be placed on developing the necessary competencies to deliver engaging and impactful training sessions in both classroom and practical settings.

This course is conducted online with State Exam and Skills Test completed in-person on the last day.

Cost: $200 (Out-of-state participants add $25 to course fee)

The Texas Commission of Fire Protection Fire Officer I course is designed to provide firefighters with the essential knowledge and skills required to assume leadership roles within the fire service. This course is specifically tailored for individuals aspiring to become competent fire officers who can effectively manage emergency incidents, lead teams, and ensure the safety and efficiency of their personnel.

Throughout this course, participants will explore various aspects of fire service leadership, focusing on both theoretical foundations and practical applications as well as, key topics necessary for effective fire officer performance.

This course is conducted online with State Exam and Skills Test complete in-person on the last day.

Cost: $285 (Out-of-state participants add $25 to course fee)

    -Must hold certification as Structural Fire Protection Personnel, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Personnel, or Marine Fire Protection Personnel; and
    -Hold a Fire Service Instructor I Certification as defined in the Texas Administrative code §425.3 (relating to Minimum Standards for Fire Service Instructor I Certification).
  • Minimum of 4 students required to run course.

This comprehensive course builds upon the foundations established in the Fire Instructor I certification, further refining instructional techniques, fostering effective communication skills, and expanding on the understand of fire service training principles.

This course is conducted online with State Exam and Skills Test complete in-person on the last day.

    Must hold a Fire Instructor I Certification as defined in the Texas Administrative code §425.3 (relating to Minimum Standards for Fire Service Instructor I Certification); and
    Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in fire protection as defined in the Texas Administrative Code §421.5.
  • Minimum of 5 students required to run course.

The Texas Commission of Fire Protection Incident Safety Officer Course is tailored specifically for firefighter professionals.  The course is designed to empower and elevate student’s expertise, equipping them with essential skills to excel as Incident Safety Officers (ISOs) in the challenging realm of firefighting.

Throughout this course, participants will cover topics such as NFPA Standards and Compliance, Risk Mitigation Strategies, and Effective Fireground Communication. Emphasis will be placed on developing the necessary competencies to deliver engaging and impactful training sessions in both classroom and practical settings, equipping participants with the expertise to effectively fulfill the critical role of an Incident Safety Officer (ISO).

This course is conducted online with the Skills Tests and State Exam and completed in-person.

Cost: $250 (Out-of-state participants add $25 to course fee)
