Commercial Driver Training Courses

Professional Truck Drivers deliver more goods than aviation and rail combined, making truck driving and transportation one of the top in-demand industries in the Permian Basin. Our CDL program is approximately 5 weeks in length and consists of 40 hours of online training and 160 hours of hands-on in-truck training which satisfies all ELDT requirements. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive their Class A CDL with the option of obtaining endorsements in Hazmat, Double, Triples and Tankers.

Requirements

  1. Students must have a current DOT Physical-Medical Card and a Class A Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) to begin program. CLP is $25.00 and is obtained through DPS.

  2. DOT Physical-Medical Cards may be obtained through any Certified Medical Examiner, visit the FMCSA page for details:

  3. Students are required to pass a drug screening prior to program start date.

  4. Appointments are required to submit completed application packets.

Our 5-day, 40-hour CDL Refresher course is designed for individuals who hold a current CDL license and want to refresh their skills in order to return to work. This course provides hands-on, behind the wheel training and in-depth coverage of vehicle inspection, in-cab air brake test, proper shifting, right and left-hand turns, movement in traffic, parking of a commercial vehicle, highway and city driving, and backward movement and control.

Before obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), students must first hold a Commercial Learners Permit (CLP). This 16-hour online, self-paced course will prepare students for the State of Texas CLP exam by providing them with an overview of the Commercial Driver License Handbook and questions that will be asked during the Knowledge Test.

The customizable course is geared toward those who are responsible for the safe and effective operation of commercial vehicles, or those looking to obtain or who have recently earned their commercial driver’s license (CDL). Techniques covered during this defensive driving training include the identification of hazardous situations and methods for recognizing, understanding, and taking corrective action to prevent accidents in a commercial vehicle. Students will have both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction.

Our Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) Hazmat Course is a 16 hour online, self-paced course that covers all the required topics set forth by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). 

Completion of this course will allow students to sit for the Hazmat Endorsement test with the Department of Public Safety (DPS). After successful completion of DPS testing, students will then schedule a fingerprint and background check to receive their official Hazmat Endorsement on their drivers license.

Comprised of both classroom and hands-on instruction, this training provides students with an understanding of the proper load securement techniques as well as the rules and regulations of the North American Cargo Securement Standard and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

A CDL passenger endorsement is required for any commercial vehicle that transports 16 or more passengers including the driver. These include livery vehicles, motor coaches and public service motor vehicles. Our 2-week, 80-hour course combines online and hands-on, behind-the-wheel training that will prepare students to take the knowledge and skills test. Topics covered include vehicle inspection, in-cab air brake test, proper shifting, right and left-hand turns, movement in traffic, parking of a vehicle designed to transport passengers, highway and city driving, and backward movement and control. Students must posses a valid Class B Texas Learner’s Permit with airbrakes, passenger endorsement and school bus endorsement (if applicable) to enroll.

Presented by Safety Compliance & Training, LLC, this two-day Commercial Vehicle and Brake Inspector course is designed for personnel who conduct in-house federal, annual commercial motor vehicle inspections, brake inspections, and brake readjustment services for fleets as outlined in Parts 396.19 and 396.25 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).

Students will cover the legal and logistical procedures for inspectors as well as practical inspection training with a truck and trailer. Students will also learn what items DOT officers inspect during Level I Roadside Inspections.

Presented by Safety Compliance & Training, LLC, this comprehensive 8-hour course aims to equip commercial vehicle drivers, whether CDL or Non-CDL holders, with a foundational comprehension of DOT Compliance. Throughout the course, drivers will be guided through the essential components of the FMCSR’s and the DOT roadside inspection procedures. Additionally, drivers will gain insights into how the SMS and PSP programs impact both carriers and individual driver records. A thorough examination of the Hours of Service regulations outlined in Part 395 will provide drivers with a comprehensive understanding of logging procedures, maximum hours, and pertinent exceptions and exemptions.
