Denise  McKownInterim Dean, Education & Early Childhood, Education Division Office

Denise McKown has always loved teaching and children. She thought she would be a kindergarten teacher for the rest of her life, but after completing her master’s in early childhood education, she was asked to teach courses. She found she loved helping others reach their goals of becoming teachers. She prefers the classroom over online teaching because “teaching students how to teach should be done face to face.”

She enjoys traveling, reading, and sewing. She is happiest spending time with her children, swimming, and being outside. Some of her “causes” are: healthy kids/babies, Alzheimer’s research, literacy and strong public education. Her "bucket list" includes: European vacation (Italy, Greece, England, France) and scuba diving in Australia.
