Last year's Midland College District tax rate was $0.114721 per $100 of taxable value, which caused the amount of taxes imposed last year on the average home to be $295.61. On August 19, 2019, members of the Midland College Board of Trustees unanimously voted to consider a proposed tax rate of $0.09121 per $100 of taxable value, which will cause the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home to be $255.59, a decrease of $40.02.

The average taxable value of a residence homestead in Midland College District last year was $257,679.  The average taxable value of a residence homestead in Midland College District this year is $280,216.  Because of increased property values and a low effective tax rate, the proposed Midland College District tax rate for this year is a 5 percent increase in total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year.  Therefore, the Midland College District will hold two public hearings on the proposed total tax revenues.  Individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property and the tax rate that is adopted.

The public hearings will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, and Tuesday, September 10, in the Pevehouse Administration Building Gibson Board Room.  Midland College invites the public to attend the hearings and express their views.  The Midland College Board of Trustees will then adopt a tax rate at the September 17 regular monthly meeting, 4:00 p.m., Pevehouse Administration Building Gibson Board Room.
