Developing Locally Adapted Native Plants for Commercial Restoration: Texas Native Seeds - Permian Basin & Panhandle Native Seed Project Friday, December 07, 2018
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Join the Math & Science Division for their "First Friday" lecture presented by Samuel Lutfy, Scientist with the Texas Native Seeds Program at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute. Mr. Lufty joined Texas Native Seeds in November 2017 to help on projects in West Texas, the Texas Panhandle and the Permian Basin. Sam graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sciences from Pennsylvania State University in fall 2014. In early 2016 Sam moved to Kingsville, Texas to work for Thomas Junger (UT Austin) on a project studying the genetic and physiological responses of Switchgrass to variations in climate. While in Kingsville, he was exposed to South Texas native plants and became fascinated by the benefits of native habitat restoration. You are invited to bring your lunch or purchase one in the Scharbauer Student Center grill.
