The MC Math & Science Division invites all for the first installment of the 2019-2020 First Friday Science Lecture Series.  Dr Joon Heo with the UTPB Department of Geosciences will discuss his research on the spatial analyses of water quality and environmental changes related to oil and gas developments in the Permian Basin.

Coupled with field experiments and modeling investigations, Heo and his team estimated geothermal resources and CO2 flow systems.  Their findings indicate that groundwater contamination results primarily from the mobilization of the contaminant from natural sources or anthropogenic activities, such as natural gas and oil extractions.  The research provides important information for groundwater management in developing plans for the use of future water resources.

The event is FREE; tickets are not required.  Participants may bring their lunch.
