Our Purpose

The West Texas Journal of History and the Symposium of History are designed to showcase community college faculty and lower division branches of Texas universities as well as graduate students. Symposium papers may cover any subject in a historical perspective – traditional history, literature, archaeology, philosophy, political science, art, and the teaching of these areas. Topics are not limited to coverage of West Texas, but those that do cover our area are given special consideration.
Both the journal the symposium are made possible through the generosity of Jim and Paula Henry and the Henry Foundation in Midland, Texas.
