The Midland College Idea Factory is a technology learning space which allows students the opportunity to collaborate, tinker, learn, design, and make using a variety of tools and materials. An idea can be developed from conception to creation using the tools provided in the Idea Factory including: 3D printing, 3D scanning, laser engraving, CNC milling, vinyl cutting, and more.
Industry Standard Software: AutoCAD, Inventor, Civil 3D, Revit Architecture, AutoCAD Architecture, 3ds Max, and Intergraph CADWorx
Equipment: Dimension Elite 3D printer, Makerbot 5th Generation 3D printer, Sense 3D scanner,
Epilog Helix CO2 laser engraver, Roland MDX50 CNC Mill, Roland GS-24 vinyl cutter,
Stahls vinyl heat press, HTC Vive VR system

Students are NOT required to purchase their own computer or software. The Midland College Computer Graphics labs are equipped with high-end computers and the same software used throughout the computer graphics industry.

Computer Graphics technicians work with engineers, architects and/or designers to prepare detail and assembly drawings for a wide variety of manufacturing and construction projects.
This program prepares students for careers in the fields of mechanical drafting, process piping drafting, structural and architectural drafting, mapping/topographical drafting, and technical animation as well as many other fields.
The computer graphics industry is an extremely versatile field. Graduates have accepted employment with the following:
