Veterinary Technology Program Application Process

 

APPLICATION PROCESS:

The application process for admittance to the Midland College Veterinary Technology Program is outlined below.  The first step outlines the Requirements for Admission to the Program.  The second step outlines Acceptance Notification.  The third step outlines what Supplies and Uniform you will need to purchase to begin the Program.  Keep in mind there is limited space available for each course due to the limited size of our facilities and staffing.  To ensure the chance that you will fill one of those spots- make sure you have submitted all of the required information as early as possible.  For more information about what is expected of our Veterinary Technology students please see our Veterinary Technology Student Handbook.

 

Reminder: The deadline for new applications for the Fall Semester is August 15th!

 

Requirements for Admission to the Program:

1.  Proof of high school graduation or GED completion.

2.  A completed Midland College Application and submission of processing fee.

3.  A completed Veterinary Technology Program Application.  To download the application click here.  You will need Adobe Reader software to download

4.  Personal interview with the Program Director and a tour of the facilities.

5.  Successful completion of the THEA requirements.  A minimum score of 220 in writing and 230 in reading and math on the THEA exam, or completion of

    developmental courses with a minimum grade of "C".

6.  Documented observation hours at a Veterinary facility with a minimum of thirty-two (32) hours completed.

        a.  Documentation includes the Task Observation Form and the Observation Hours Acknowledgement Form, both are found in the Veterinary Technology

            Student Handbook.

7.  Official transcripts from prior college/university attendance with general education courses.

         a.  General education courses include: Math, Biology, Chemistry, English, Psychology, Speech, etc.

Acceptance Notification:

After the Veterinary Technology Program has received all the documentation needed to proceed with the review of the application, the student will receive a letter from the Program to let them know a little bit about what is expected if you are accepted into the Program.  Shortly afterward, the student will receive an acceptance letter in the mail.  If you do not receive a letter shortly after the informational letter- please contact the Program Director at 432-685-4619 as there may be a problem with your application.

Supplies and Uniform Information:

Once you have received your acceptance letter you will also receive a list of supplies and requirements that you need to be aware of and have before taking your first Veterinary Technology course.

The supplies you will need are:

As a Veterinary Technology student we expect you to look professional and require you to wear scrub tops and bottoms to all Veterinary Technology Lecture and Lab courses.
