Teacher Training

The teacher workshops provide engineering concepts while emphasizing problem solving, teamwork and project management. Lessons are aligned to state of Texas standards, giving teachers an opportunity to easily incorporate the workshop content into their classrooms.

  • RoboRaiders Summer LEGO Institute workshop for K-12 teachers that incorporates a project-based curriculum and gives participants hands-on experience in developing classroom exercises using programmable LEGO equipment. Teachers learn to build robots that incorporate various sensors and mechanisms, and to program their robots using the RoboLab software. LEGO Kits and RoboLab Site Licenses are provided.

  • Rocketry Workshops for Teachers workshop provides an exciting hands-on approach to teaching, using rockets to illustrate advanced concepts of physics and mathematics.
  • NASA Programs teachers will learn the different educational programs NASA has to offer and will discover what NASA resources are available to educators for their classrooms.

K-12 Programs

TPAE has introduced several K-12 programs to stimulate children's imaginations, and increase their desire to learn more in the math and science fields.

  • LEGO Robo Lab is a project-based curriculum that gives a hands on experience in developing programmable LEGO equipment.

  • CanSat is a satellite that is built to fit inside a soda can, hence CanSat. The CanSat is designed to perform a mission and collect data. Missions can be atmospheric measurements, video capture, picture taking, communications, or navigation. The missions can be as simple or as complex as you design it to be.
  • Summer Day Camp is a one week program where students learn basic rocketry and will design, build, and launch small rockets, followed by a day at the McDonald's Observatory (day trip is held at the Fort Stockton camp only).
