The Observation Visit
Going to the hospital for an observation visit is beneficial for both you and the program. You will have the opportunity to observe the many interesting areas of the Radiology Department. It will allow you a chance to ask questions about the field of radiography in practice.
It will also give the clinical instructor an opportunity to visit with you. You will be rated on attire, hygiene, attentiveness and professional behavior. At all times this visit should be conducted like a job interview.
Before you go:
You must contact the Health Sciences Continuing Education department at (432) 685-6486 and arrange to complete the Pre-Admission HIPAA Module. This module is an overview of the laws regarding patient privacy. It can be taken on-line in less than one hour. The passing score for the short test is 70%. To take the module, you must have completed an application for admission to Midland College.
Ticket to the observation
Your printed out score from the HIPAA module becomes your "ticket" to the observation visit. Show this print-out to the Clinical Instructor when you report to the hospital.

What to wear when you go for your observation visit?
Business casual attire would make a good first impression.
What is business casual attire?
Although there is a wide range of definitions for business casual, there are also some general rules that apply:
-Jeans, tennis shoes, tight or short skirts, T-shirts and sweatshirts are never considered business casual. Your appearance should remain neat and respectable. This includes nicely pressed clothing, polished shoes, and conservative accessories.
-Business "casual" does not apply to grooming standards and hygiene.
When in doubt, dress conservatively and lean more toward the business side rather than the casual side.
Men Women
-Not expected to wear ties -Business skirt or pants
-Business or sports jacket is appropriate -Conservative blouse or sweater
-Stylish, solid colored pants -Blazer or vest is appropriate
-Long-sleeved solid or striped dark shirt -Neutral hosiery
