this course? How can I succeed in this course? Your final grade in this course will be based on performance rather than effort. That means that you will want to attend class each and every day. Additionally, you will want to take copious notes and ask informed questions when necessary. The amount of effort you put in the course outside of class will have a direct correlation to your final average. Simply stated: If you read and prepare for exams in addition to coming to class, you will succeed. (Back to Top) Yes. Provided your final average is a "C" or better, this course will transfer to all major colleges and universities in Texas - and many beyond. Not only will the course grade transfer, but the course coverage is on par with that of other larger institutions. You will be prepared to take future courses in history at a four year university. (Back to Top) What is an ID and how should I approach responding to one on an exam? Follow the link on the right side of this page. (Back to Top) Can you tell me how to answer a history essay question? Follow the link on the right side of this page. (Back to Top) Why don't your exams contain multiple choice questions? Multiple choice questions only tell me the things that you do not know about a subject. A correct answer on a multiple choice question does not illustrate an understanding of the question, and likewise, an incorrect answer on the same question does not indicate that you know nothing. IDs and essay questions allow you to tell me the things you know about a subject. Even if you have not studied as thoroughly as you would like, you should be able to come up with something for partial credit. With multiple choice, there is either correct or incorrect, whereas, with an essay there is a lot in between. (Back to Top) No. I find that students who are unwilling - and sometimes unable - to successfully complete regular requirements are rarely motivated to do extra credit. (Back to Top) How do I download files from this website? I would suggest that you create a folder on your desktop - name it "HIST 1301" or your course number to give you an indication as to what it is. Once you have done that, right click the link you want to save and print to that folder. It would be in your best interest to keep materials such as the course syllabus and study guides. You can download Firefox FREE by following the previous link. You can also contact Blackboard Support. Please send me an email if you are having trouble. Always best to keep me informed.
