HVAC
Certification
Although
the State of Texas does require a state license for those individuals
who operate an air conditioning or refrigeration business, there
is currently no mandatory state certification for air conditioning
technicians. There are numerous voluntary certifications available.
The most widely accepted certification currently is the NATE
certification. Another certification, HVAC
Excellence, is also increasing in popularity. For more information
on these, click on the name to go to their respective web sites.
All technicians
in the United States have to be certified by the environmental
protection agency. This is accomplished by taking a closed book
examination. Although the EPA exam is not part of the Midland
College curriculum, the exam is offered on a regular basis.
