HVAC Certification

Although the State of Texas does require a state license for those individuals who operate an air conditioning or refrigeration business, there is currently no mandatory state certification for air conditioning technicians. There are numerous voluntary certifications available. The most widely accepted certification currently is the NATE certification. Another certification, HVAC Excellence, is also increasing in popularity. For more information on these, click on the name to go to their respective web sites.

All technicians in the United States have to be certified by the environmental protection agency. This is accomplished by taking a closed book examination. Although the EPA exam is not part of the Midland College curriculum, the exam is offered on a regular basis. To find out dates and times that the exams are scheduled, contact:
