About
the Program
The Air
Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration curriculum has been
established on the advice and with the cooperation of employers
and technicians in our community who are engaged in some phase
of the air conditioning, refrigeration, or heating industry.
The primary objective of this program is to train students to
install and service air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating
equipment.
The Air
Conditioning Program offers an Associate of Applied Science
degree, as well as four separate certificate options. If a student
is only interested in the certificate program, they will be
THEA exempt.
The courses
are designed to train the students in both the mechanical and
the electrical requirements of the system. The air conditioning
facility has equipment for residential and commercial refrigeration,
heating, and air conditioning. The facility also has a computer
lab with various computer software programs designed to help
train the students in theory and troubleshooting. The air conditioning
classes are designed with both a lecture and lab component.
The student will learn the theory in the classroom, and then
apply that knowledge in the lab on actual equipment.
